I don't know if anyone saw this, but Boeing recently celebrated its 100th anniversary. They had a bunch of aircraft on display but the highlight of the event was a light show.

They used a white 747 as a screen and projected images on it. Here is one of the better quality youtube videos of the show.

If you find a better quality version, please post it.

Opps...the first video I posted was a bit short. New link has the complete show.

That was a cool use of that projection tech. I've never seen it used on a moving "screen" before. I wonder how they locked it in.

Very cool. There have been more and more of these done over the last few years. Was there one fundamental enabling technology that caused this to take off? Lenses? High-intensity lamps? Software?

Cool!

Sidenote: Anyone else remember Boeing Graphics for DOS?

Edit: Wow! Searched on Boeing Graphics DOS and found someone who had it listed on a circa 2014 resume. o_O

Nice!, although the 747 ushered in a new era in space, comfort, and reliability I think the future in wide-body planes will wind up with twin-engine designs like the 777/787. All airliners need periodic overhaul and this is where the twin saves $$.
