Boeing 787 pics

Illuminated by arrays of light emitting diodes, both the brightness and the color of the sky-like cabin ceiling can be controlled in flight by the crew. Flight attendants can give passengers a sense of daylight when desired, and when they want to help passengers rest, simulate a beautiful nighttime sky.

I'd prolly jam a fork in their eye if I have to sleep with that blue light.

Look at all that wasted space. No way a commercial airliner would do that.

the last trip back from maui in december it was on 1 of boeings brand new planes. and im trying to think but pretty sure it was a 787.. SUPER powerful plane.. huge engines.
thing took off like a rocket ship.

yeah, there's room for maybe dozens of seats in those aisles. Lots of money.

The 787 program will open its final assembly plant in Everett in 2007. First flight is expected in 2007 with certification, delivery and entry into service occurring in 2008.

Wasted space? Arches are a wonderful thing. You should see all the crazy sorts of things that are being planned for airplanes, such as casinos, sleeping areas with actual beds, duty free mini malls where you can actually go and shop in the middle of a flight...

Besides, these types of "innovations" seem to be intended for extended length flights, over seas and what not where they're looking to maximize comfort, not space, for obvious reasons.

I guess the 787 has a time travel device as one of the new features, because they're not going to be in commercial service until 2008.

Perhaps it was the 777 or a 747. Unless they did get that time machine from Stargate Command.

Hey, it would be nice if they DID, but the vast majority of flights that people on this forum will be taking, will be jam-in-as-many-people-as-possible flights.

I like the 787, it's a really good design, and IMHO "small and efficient" is better for the next few decades than the "efficiency-of-scale" thing Airbus has going with the A-380.

It was an impressively huge plane, though. Saw it at the Paris Airshow.

Most of those pictures are of First/Business class 😉. You can only catch a glimpse of economy class, which seems to be your usual cramped quarters.

ugh.. blue light. why not yellow?

blue light constricts your pupils. yellow light provides for a better visual environment for reading and creates less strain.

yes, pretty, but sucks for the eye.

I would have loved to be on one of those on my trip from Toronto to Barbados... 7 hours on a 767 was tight... 🙁

Probably was a 777. 787 is not even built yet.

Yeah, but I'm betting those are the pics of the first class area, where you pay thru the nose and get all the amenities. Us coach passenger types will be down next to the cargo hold, and look more like this!!!
