I just started drinking this stuff with the little black round things at the bottom and it's really good. There's a place in west la called Relaxation on Sawtelle that makes these really good. They have great shaved ice as well.

Right in Westwood? I haven't walked through town lately, must be a new place. I've got to check it out tomorrow.

It's called Pearl Milk tea, and it's the shiznit. Taiwan, and asian countries have so many stores lining the streets, where you can get about 500cc for about 75cents. :)

Tonnes of those bubble tea housed up here in 'Hongcouver' :D There are actually two different types of 'pearls' one is made of yam starch & the other is made out of tapioca starch. I'm trying to figure out how to make the pearls but no luck so far (still hard in the middle).

Cheers,

in westwood there is a place called Cafe Fruzenmix. It's owned by my friend's uncle, and lot of my friends work there (they're from ACA). It is really good stuff.

and in that same plaza that Relaxation is located, there is a place around the corner called CJ's (near Cafe Muse). That place is AWESOME.

I recommend the Almond Boba.

ANd if you join ACA, you can get discounts at those places as well, ranging from 10%-20%.

hehe

For those of you that live in the Los Angeles area, grab your Los Angeles times, Saturday January 6th, 2001 edition, go to the business section, on the FRONT page... you'll see a story about our squishy little boba friends..

I think its getting way out of hand, but oh well.. whatever

In Taiwan, HK, and perhaps other asia countries, there's this drink which translates to Pearl Milk Tea in english. I could say it in mandarin, but it wouldn't make any sense to you all (no offense) and I don't think I would too well of a job spelling it in english fuhnetiks. :)

The drink is basically some tea with some sort of milk added to it, it isn't condensed, or the normal kind....but it's made by Carnation.....anyway, the little balls at the bottom which are made out of yam starch or tapioca starch. (as Aquaman said) You cook these balls of starch, and they're really hard to cook and get just right. If you cook 'em just right, they bascially turn out to be jelly balls, but with a bit more consistency. After that's done, you put them into the milk tea you've mixed up, and there ya' go. Pearl Milk Tea. Sorry I couldn't be more detailed, but if I knew more, I'd open my own store. :) If any of you haven't had it, you're MISSING OUT. This is some of the best stuff on earth. :)

hmmmm.......you can probably find it in Chinatown. :) There MUST be a pearl milk tea shop, or else you guys are truly deprived. :)

I'm sure if you just ask around, you could find one. I'd tell you how to say it in mandarin or cantonese, but I don't think it'd come out right. :)

lol, that's too bad, you're missing out!!! :) Perhaps you can ask any of your friends if they know of any stores that sell it. Maybe they'll know of a place near by.

not bad stuff. Novelty does wear off quickly though. On the days I feel thristy, I wish it didn't have any round things in it at all.

Try sucking the tapioca balls halfway up the straw and then shooting them at friends/cars/etc. :)
