Libby got indicted for other things i thought, like lying under oath. But it was probably Cheney :)

Bigtime twist, proves what I was saying earlier that Libby wasn't the actual leaker, that it was well known before he ever said anything.

Doesn't that mean someone ELSE in the administration leaked the information? This seems like bad news for Bush, yet most people do not seem to be looking at it that way. Is there something I'm missing? The information was still released when it wasn't supposed to be (in theory), the fact that it was released earlier, to Woodward, doesn't mean that no one is at fault. Libby might be off the hook for it, but someone did it.

Libby was indited for lying and obstruction of justice, not for outing Wilson's wife. He obstructed the investigation into who did leak that information.

how is this prove anything? Libby is charged with lying under oath and to federal officials investigating the Plame leak and for obstruction of justice. If anything, once again, another "senior White House Official" who is not Libby gave sensitive and secret information to reporters. Rove's people have denied he was the source. Seems to me that there are more and more people from the White House who were going around outing this woman. Does three, a conspiracy make?

You are corrrect Chowderhead. This shows that Libby wasn't the only source of the Plame information. He most certainly did tell Judith Miller. We still haven't been told who gave the information to Robert Novak yet.

Repost. We already started discussing this.

Anyway, my take is, Woodward is working for the admin on this. He's providing reasonable doubt for everyone. Muddying the waters. He's also offering pronouncements such as, "very little harm was done to the CIA with the Plame being outed.", and "they didn't seem to think they were doing anything wrong," and other such shite. He's trying to strip Fitzy of his case.
I have to wonder, how much are they paying this a-hole?

just like back in 2003, there is so much S##T and mis-information floating around, that people are confused in tryin' to figure out what to believe.

this is classic Bush shock-and-awe, classic "say something enough times and people will believe it", classic sound-byte, etc. strategy.

this just wreaks of cover-ups and scapegoats for the corrupt bush/cheney regime.

If I'm Fitzgerald I would be coming up with one more obstruction of justice charge against another White House official for failing to divulge this information during this entire investigation. I'm willing to bet that Cheney was behind the entire scheme even to the point that they (himself, Rove, Libby, et.al.) would mention Plame's name and association with the CIA casually as if it was of little importance. I don't think any of them will ever tell the full truth.

of course they wouldn't tell the truth - they know the stakes riding on their little manipulation scheme.

if it is ever exposed, they'd all lose their cozy nest eggs.

Of course this begs the question who was the source? Was it Cheney? He seems to be the likely candidate.

It is good to Bush as it proves the Grand Jury was pretty much a sham. If they could not recover this basic information after two years of investigation - a lot of doubt creeps in.

Except Libby still committed perjury and obstruction of justice, so even if he wasn't the actual leak, he still committed crimes.

Hmmm..... interesting, someone who didn't really commit a crime to begin with, but managed to commit one after that fact; this sound familiar to anyone?;)

Which is why Libby lied to and obstructed the grand jury, so that they couldn't recover basic information, and that is why he is being charged. He took the fall and now the admin. he protected will try to save him. It is also why he should be sent to Gitmo to extract the information as he is protecting treasonous terrorists who outed a CIA agent.

My take is that this wil go all the way to the top (Cheney). I get the feeling the admin is just stalling to get past the 2006 elections. Only problem is the main stream repubs seem to be bailing on them.

yup, all they have to do is stall the process in order to get by this next election.

Seeing as how this is the only tactic left to the white house, this "new revelation" isn't all that surprising. Its a big game to these powerful people, and we end up the losers.

Or it makes you wonder why the right wing echo chamber scoffs at the idea that it was conspiracy in the WH to attack Wilson and out his wife. They said Libby was a rogue who didn't work or plan with anyone. Now we know there is a third WH official to tell the press about Plame. Sounds like a systematic effort to me.

What do we know? We know that Libby lied and now muddied the investigation, making it hard to know what was said when and to whom, hence the charges of obstruction and perjury.

Apparently her neighbors didn't. What about Cheney . . . oh nevermind . . . he was lying on national TV.

How does this prove the Grand Jury was a sham? In his press conference, Libby?s attorney, Ted Wells's stated:
First, the disclosure shows that Mr. Fitzgerald's statement at his press conference of Oct. 28, 2005, that Mr. Libby was the first government official to tell a reporter about Mr. Wilson's wife was totally inaccurate.
That's all BS spin. What Fitzgerald actually said was:
In fact, Mr. Libby was the first official known to have told a reporter when he talked to Judith Miller in June of 2003 about Valerie Wilson.
That sentence has a vastly different meaning. The only lies are from Libby's lawyer and, of course, the ones Libby, himself, told under oath.

Wells also said:
Second, Woodward's disclosure that he talked to Mr. Libby during this period and that Libby didn't discuss Plame undermines the prosecution's claim that Libby was actively seeking to discredit Wilson by leaking information about his wife.
How? Taken at face value, all that says is, Libby did not disclose Plame's identity as a covert CIA agent to Woodward at that time. It says nothing about who he did tell a month later or why he did it.

Libby?s attorney called this "a bombshell." Bombshell? Hell! It's just fart gas from yet another asshole! :p

It was pretty interesting how the right wing/Fox spinmeisters somehow took the revelation that a SECOND administration source outed Plame as good news and beneficial to the Republican party.
Even if someone else had leaked Plames name to Woodward before Libby leaked it to Judith Miller it was STILL a crime for Libby to leak the name.
The only possible way this could help Libby is if KNEW that Plames name had been leaked earlier and believed it was common knowledge. Which would mean some really interesting things:
That Libby new that someone (Cheney) had leaked Plames name earlier and that LIbby lied yet again to the grand jury.
And/Or Libby violated his signed secrecy agreement (a Federal crime) since he was obligated to report if he had knowledge some one divulged classified info.
All in all a bad day for the Bushies. Once the spin is over and more charges are filed this will look even worse than the Libby indictment.

How sad to be so emotionally immature as to constantly need to invent new lies to protect oneself from unpleasant truths.

I watched "Meet The Press" the day this happened, October 05 2003.

"Russert: Let me turn to The Washington Post. Dana Priest, last Sunday you wrote a story on the front page which said this: ?A senior administration official said that before Novak?s column ran, two top White House officials called at least six Washington journalists and disclosed the identity and occupation of Wilson?s wife. ...?Clearly, it was meant purely and simply for revenge,? the senior official said of the alleged leak.? What do you make of that? What was going on?

Dana Priest: Well, I think even people within the administration thought that this stepped over the line. "
MTP transcript 05Oct2003

Two officials calling six reporters. That would make it intentional, not the casual conversation that Novak claimed.

IMO, their pathology is obvious. They are fundamentally unethical or have one of the worst cases of delusions I've ever seen. Reality is whatever they say it is . . .

Frodo failed, Bush has the ring.

The real question is whether anyone . . . aside from Faux News . . . will buy their raison d'hui.
