He thought he had gotten a triple double by getting his 10th rebound by bouncing it off the rim of the opponent's basket.
But the NBA took it away link

I don't know whats sadder...
him padding his stats to try to get into the record books
or the NBA crushing his hopes.

man. that is sad. he shoudl have the triple double taken away. if it were allowed it would be an insult to grant hill's achievement.

GOOD! it should have been taken away. that was the stupidest way to pad your stats ever.

Ricky Davis took a layup at the OTHER team's basket - Sura took a shot at the correct basket as the game was ending - I don't see why the league would nullify that - tell the league to make sure the other team plays defense the entire 60 minutes..

Some guy on ESPN was yelling about it earlier this morning.

I was like "meh" cause I benched Sura last night for my Yahoo! league..

I didn't see the replay but it's not as bad as ricky davis since he did it on his own basket.

It was on some weird grounds that he wasn't going for a shot, so it wasn't a rebound.

``A field goal attempt is a player's attempt to shoot the ball into the basket for a field goal.'' Since Sura wasn't trying to make the shot, the NBA said, he shouldn't get credit for a field goal attempted. Therefore, there was no rebound. '

he should have bounced off the backboard to the other side of the basket, then he would have had a legitimate case. as it stands, the nba did the right thing.

That was almost as bad as Favre laying down for Strahan to get his 20.5th sack! I know records were meant to be broken, but not when it's done with stat-padding... sad.

The league nullified it because the league has an image problem. NBA players are perceived to be punks, criminals, selfish, uneducated idiots and it's hard to market that sort of player to anyone except an uneductated selfish criminal idiot punk. When you let guys pad stats in such a blatant and public way you make a mockery of the game. It reinforces the already widely-held belief that these guys are only interested in themselves and it disparages all past records that were set honestly. The NBA did the right thing.

was this before he was in the nba? cause that's pretty sad if he had to take BART instead of drive when you make nba bucks.

i don't mind them taking away his triple double if they take away the actual rebound and the FG attempt. FG% is very close in my fantasy league and i don't want to lose the championship because of that, haha. funny how i have ricky davis and bob sura on my team. i had ricky davis last year too.

The way that shot looked, I'd say they were right to take it away. If it had looked a little more like he actually attempted the shot rather than just bouncing it off the bottom of the backboard, then I'd say that he should have gotten it. I saw the NBA's definition of a field goal attempt earlier this afternoon and his "shot" didn't fit the requirements.

Edit: didn't even read that article that was posted... the definition's in there.

And this differs from reality how?

It doesn't. That's the problem. They can't do anything to make them decent humans beings, so the league has to work on their image. Things that further degrade the image have to be taken care of if possible because there are so many arrests that can't be swept under the rug.
