Agreed.

Despite his age, he seems to be have some idea of what the typical consumer wants. He's the only car guy of the bunch. Even if some of his models didn't sell that great, he's been responsible for a handful of desirable cars from GM.

Retiring or, bailing out, or maybe getting while the getting is good?

Personally, I'd be surprised if GM hangs on that long. I don't expect them to make it through the second quarter.

He's the only guy in the organization (with enough clout) that understands that styling sells cars.

yeah, nissan just posted a massive loss and announced up to ~20,000 job cuts

Without him there would have been no GTO or G8 and most likely nothing using the Australian designed Zeta platform. He did make GM less boring.

It isn't bailout money. It is a loan. From our tax dollars of course, but at least they have to pay it back, unlike the tax dollars just given to the banks with no intent of repayment.

And like mike said, no one is making money right now.
