Took our boat out to the lake this weekend. It started, then stopped.. did it one more time and then just clicked.
I have a jump box, thinking the battery had finally died, but even after jumping it, it didn't do anything differently. We hauled the boat out and after a bit of troubleshooting, figured out it was the helper starter solenoid/relay, not actually the starter (but we did remove that also to ensure it wasn't the problem.
No place had them in stock, so I took the solenoid apart, cleaned up the carbon tracing, put it back together, and were back on the water Sunday morning. 25 year old boat.. meh, about time something broke on it. Some places call it a slave solenoid.
