Are they doing a 3rd season? This felt like a series finale, too.
Wow, he was such a big part of the show.
will al capone get a bigger part?
EW.com interviewwill al capone get a bigger part?
So can we expect to see Al Capone come into his own as a formidable force next season?
As time goes on. The plan is now is we would come back in season 3 a little further into the future and start to really track Al Capones rise and God willing through the course of the series. By 1925, Capone was the guy everybody recognizes the guy in the white fedora whos firmly in charge of Chicago. Hopefully well be on the air long enough to see that guy. Certainly in [season 3] well start to see Capone on pretty much equal footing as Johnny Torrio in terms of whos running the town.
You mentioned jumping forward in time for season 3. How long will that be? [Note: Season 2 was set in 1921]
Were thinking about 16 months and starting the [third] season around the beginning of 1923, then maybe run through the end of 1923. It was an exciting year. All the people who stockpiled liquor started to run out, so competition between bootleggers became really fierce.
Jimmy got what he deserved. No doubt about that.
I think Richard (the ex-soldier) will take revenge on everyone for what happened here. He is incredibly loyal he doesnt care if he lives or dies and the only 2 characters in the show that treated him as a human being have been killed. He will get revenge. Remember when Angela painted Richard? Remember when Richard told Darmady that he had a good life? I foresee this character giving everyone what they want. i.e revenge on the butcher for his coldness and possibly revenge on nucky. I cant see nucky lasting forever. Live by the sword die by the sword.
At any rate Micheal Pitt really had a wonderful performance and I would say one of the best scenes like that you can find on television. He deserves a emmy for sure and I hope this will help him have a strong career.
Regarding Nucky :
The real Nucky survived prohibition, ironically the end of prohibition signaled the end of his influence, as without the need for bootleggers, his fortunes dwindled. He eventually went to Prison in either the late 30s or early 40s for tax evasion, so he had that similarity to Capone. In any case, he was decidedly less violent than the other notable prohibition figures, he'd much rather bribe someone than hurt them.
I will bet you're right about the Butcher meeting his end, but I doubt very much if Nucky will ever leave the show. There are a lot of other stories to tell, but if you're going to be centered on the Boardwalk in AC, then Nucky is it for the prohibition era.
What I liked about the Jimmy character is that there was a real sense of torment about the character. He wanted to be loyal but wanted to rule as well. There were multiple was they could go with this type of character. While logically, I know that there is no other way for the rift between Jimmy and Nuck to end, I hated seeing it. To me Michael Pitt's Jimmy is a much better character than Nuck. I actually found mysely liking him much more than Nucky. It will be interesting to see what happens with Richard.

With Nucky we now know what to expect from this character. AC is his town and he will take out whoever is in his way to keep control of it. Kind of makes him a little bit one dimensional IMO.
I'm confused why Eli was there at the end. Seemed like the obvious thing for Nucky to do would be to kill both Jimmy and Eli. And then to give Eli a shotgun? Also seems like a bad choice
Some parts felt a little rushed to me but these last few episodes were really exciting. I thought a few of the middle-season eps were weak but thankfully they picked things up.
Can't wait to see what they choose to do with season 3.
(Now, while we're talking about HBO...anybody watched "How To Make It In America"? I have a few of the episodes, wondering if it's worth watching.)
