Biostar has one out, but hard to find, but does not yet have voltage, or multipler adjustments, Shuttle has one also - I don't have any info on it though. But Iknow the Soltek performs well.

Well, to reap the benefits of a dual channel setup (REALLY reap the benefits) you need two sticks of pc3200 quality ram of the same brand, build, version size etc.

I know people run other configs than this, howeverI only have pc2100 and pc2700

there is no reason for me to go dual channel

Yes, you only need one stick of ram to get full functionality, you dont have to get matched pairs. No dual channel latency problems. If all you need is a speedy basic board without serial ata, and raid, no soundstorm. I would get it. If that board had been out when I got my Biostar - I would have got it instead. Because I had a sound card, and a nice video card - and I don't need serial ata yet.

Gigabyte has two boards that supposedly use the nforce2 400 chipset: the GA-7N400E and the GA-7N400E-L, the latter having onboard LAN. however, in their descriptions, Gigabyte claims they support dual channel DDR in one section of the website, while in another they claim that they are single channel boards. hmm...kind of confusing, but i'm pretty sure they're single channel mobos. anyways, i don't know if they are on the shelves yet.

Good deal, thanks for the info. I would say for those who order, make sure if you order any nforce2 400 mobo that you verify with a pic and description. I would look/see that the ram slots only had one controller (single channel). Gigabyte looks to have a awsome array of boards, VIA 64 Bit, nforce2, nforce2 400, nforce3, SIS748, VIAKT400-600. Thay have pretty much everything.

Just yesterday I installed a Gigabyte GA-7N400-L1 into my machine. This board (and all Gigabyte in this series I believe - Nforce2 Ultra 400) allow you to either have single or run dual DDR.

Also to run dual DDR you do not need to have two identical Dimms as I have 1x512mb 2700 and 1x256mb 2100 running in dual DDR setup @300mhz effective speed (Athlon XP 2200 @ 13 x 150mhz)

To summarise, these boards allow single or dual DDR operation, I imagine other venders now offer this to.....

Hi Mikey- It's been that way since the first nforce2 came along. The only difference between your board. and others is you have and extra dimm slot for controller #2. So you can run more than others in dual channel. You could run 2 gigs dual channel. But eh ability to run single channel has been there with all dual channel boards all along. You board has the ultra chipset, whereas the nforce2 400 chipset runs only in single channel. I'd like to have that extra slot like you have theough for more total dual channel ;) but 1G is enough for me for now.

Sinlge channel boards perform just as well (or sometimes even better) than their dual channel counterparts, thanks to the low latency and low bandwith requirements of the AMD subsystem.

Asus A7N8X-X is proof to it, and is even more overclockable.

Yeah, I have pointed to the reviews to the Soltek NV400 L64 at amdmb. It's faster, not because it's dual channel, but because of the nforce2 400 chipset - and dual channel does as you say eliminate dual channel latency. But the nforce2 400 chipset is just plain faster. I have not seen better overclocking results though. I think the Abit NF7-S, Epox 8RDA+, and DFI Lan party own those marks. Are you getting really high overclocks? Say...past 230?
