Boarderlands won't install

Got sidetracked with other games and decided to play Boarderlands. I bought the game years ago...DVD version. Now every time I try to install it, I get a pop up window asking for a code, which I can't find. The game was not pirated...just a hard copy bought from Amazon. Don't know if I want to buy it again via Steam.

Suggestions?

Is it just vanilla Borderlands? You can usually get the GOTY version on steam for ~$7.50 very, very frequently. It is almost always on sale.

GOTY editions for Borderlands games are well worth it. One of those few games where the DLC is quite substantial, and actually very good.

There was probably a Steam code in the DVD case that you've lost. The GOTY is definitely worth it even at $10-15.

don't bother, game sucks (at least playing solo) and from what I remember when I did try to play in a group, it still sucked.

Your taste in games is now suspect.

I played it 100% solo and had a lot of fun. And I don't normally play many shooters.

Play as Lilith and take the bullet speed / damage skills, or as Axton and take buffs to the turret. You can always change the skills later.

I have the case, but cannot find any code. Thanks for the reply. I'll see if toolbox works or wait until it goes on sale.

I know you've mentioned the Steam Toolbox a few posts above, but maybe those steps will help you a little more in your attempt to make it work.

EDIT: I am flabbergasted by the apparent refusal for the entire link to show up without being "censored" by a bunch of asterisks (it's a link on Gearbox's web site apparently, not sure what's wrong about it).
