More likely that I screwed up the wiring but my latest mini ITX system just wont stay off. I soldered a 4-pin power connector to the case's power hookup but when I shut the machine down via software, it comes back on by itself after a few seconds. Didn't see any power failure or recovery settings in BIOS, but it was working fine at first so I have no idea what to do other than retrofit a small power supply in place of the adapter but there's very little room in the chassis.

UPDATE: Wiring is confirmed correct, maybe the adapter is just cheap and not worthy of any additional usage.

Make sure your reset button isn't plugged into your motherboard backwards and then go into bios by pressing F2 or Delete key rapidly soon as you power on the system and go into power options and change the settings in there to off. Some should say "Boot Lan" , "Boot USB", "Power Boot","Boot Mouse And Keyboard" - Turn all of those off and then chose exit and save or save and restart and that should fix your problem.

Okay, so the board is a Intel DQ77KB and I was wrong about the 4-pin power connector... it's actually just 2-pins and I modified a 4-pin CPU power connector from a busted power supply.

The connector on the board is right behind the DC IN jack, at the very edge of the PCB. You can only use one or the other power input methods, and the user is instructed to disable the other etc. etc. I snipped the two unused wires from the 4-pin connector and fitted the compatible side into the socket; it actually clips right in regardless. Worked fine up until a few days ago when I couldn't get it to stay off, so I will double check the BIOS and maybe there's something I missed.

Thanks!
