Board for 4x2GB at 1066 (P45/ICH10r)

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for anyone here who may have experience running a quad core Core 2 CPU with all 4 DDR2 ram slots full. I have 8GB of Corsair Dominator 1066 5-5-5-15 ram installed in my current board with a Xeon 3370 CPU and can only run my memory at 800mhz FSB versus the rated 1066.

I'd love to push this system further, but I think my Asus P5Q Pro Turbo is a likely culprit.

Can anyone suggest (and remember one of these now "old") boards? Which one was the best P45/ICH10r high end board of its time - especially for overclocking and RAM stability.

I'd love to toss the P5Q... and not ready yet to upgrade to an i7 as I've invested in this system, and it's more than fast enough. My Xeon 3370 will do 4.2Ghz on air tested stable with 4GB RAM... this board just craps no matter the voltage on the NB and VTT etc. trying to run the ram stable at higher speeds. I've dropped down the CPU to 3.8 just so I can drop the timings on this board for the ram. It won't do 1066 with 4 slots even at non-overclocked speeds.

Thanks Arcane - I've since found you seem to be correct, albeit too late however! haha Apparently the Gigabyte EP45-UD3P will run stable with 4 slots apparently though and found a good deal on one, currently being mailed. Hope I didn't make a mistake!
