I've never heard of him, and I'd like to think I wouldn't forget a name like that...

One of the greatest college football coaches of all time. He and Woody Hayes made the Ohio State/Michigan rivalry what it is today.

Ahhh...thanks for the info. I'm not a football fan, and when I do watch I never watch any college ball. I'm pretty much a hockey or nothing kind of guy... :)

Sounds like he was quite the guy though...sorry to hear he passed away.

:(

I never heard of this guy, but if you guys like him this much up there... I can relate.

The day spurrier or shuma dies, I will get a bottle then drink and recap the greatness of a fallen idol.

How can you follow college football and not at least have heard of Schembechler.

It takes a real man to make a comment like this about a hated rival on the eve of what will surely be one of the biggest games in the rivalry's history.

Feld, you've always had my respect. This just confirms that you will never lose it.

Michigan never played Florida when Spurrier was the coach, but I know who he is.

Not knowing Bo Schembechler was the coach at Michigan is like not knowing that Paul McCartney was in the Beatles.

And I'll bet you know who Chris Perry is..

Thanks man.

Just remember, you'd be hard pressed to find a real OSU fan that didn't respect Bo. Played under Woody, grad asst. under Woody, Asst. Coach under Woody, rival of Woody...

Woody & Bo were the Shug & Bear of northern football. :)

Ok, I grew up in Ohio as an OSU fan. I still knew who Paterno was (PSU joined the Big Ten after I left Ohio), I knew who Bear Bryant was, I knew who Bobby Bowden was, etc...

It's a matter of being a fan of college football in general and not just "your team". Bo easily had just as much an impact as those giants.

Not at least hearing of Schembechler is like not knowing the only 2 time Heisman winner is Archie Griffin.

Fourth quarter, three seconds left, OSU at the 40 yard line... Pettrey to kick the winning FG...
Here's the snap...
And the kick...
It's sailing...
The Hand of Bo reaches down from on high...
WIDE LEFT!!!
HAIL TO THE VICTORS!!!

RIP Bo. You made us all proud to be Wolverines!

That would be a sweet ending, but I think OSU is actually the better team.
