BMW's Bangle gladly takes the heat, remains committed design direction

I really think that he has taken car designing in a new and interesting direction. I don't like some of his designs but many have grown on me, to which they have grown onto other people too. 🙂

It's tough stuff to win over the car nuts when it comes to design. Whenever I see a new model released generally all I hear is how the rear end looks like one car and the roofline like another, yet when someone does something truly original people still don't like it.

that guy's gotta go...his designs are FUGLY! yet, ppl still buy bmws...show how much they know.

that's my $.02 😀

Well, now BMW can always revert back to previous designs and use Bangle as the bad guy later. Sales are still strong. I'm thinkin maybe I want a mini......Bangle hasn't touched that yet.

Actually i hated the designs initially, but they grew on me now that i've seen both on the road.

Dont pass any judgments till you see those cars in real life. The photos dont do em justice

Right now im still waiting to get a Z4. They have had some issues here of late though...so im waiting it out. (issues are the steering wheel feels like it looses "power steering" above temperatures of above 90 degrees on some cars and the SMG transmissions jumping out of gears or shifting too slow). Im expecting them to do a recall or something on those issues.

I like his stuff. The 5 and 7 look good and the Z4 is just gorgeous - much more masculine then that wussy Z3 ever was.

Why should it be good, much less praised because it is simply original?

My problem with the bangle design is that it attempt to add charateristics to a line of vehicles which for decades have had a distinctive look.

From the inside I would definitely be smiling. From the outside however, the 5 series is the only new BMW I could stand, and even, then, I would regret my purchase.

<--If he was getting a BMW, he would get the 2004 m3...now THAT is what BMW's are SUPPOSED to look like....

The Z4 isn't too bad, the front looks badass, it's the rear that looks bad, too bad cause it would have been a kickass car with a nicer ass.
The 6 has the same problem, nice looking front, ugly ass.
The 7..don't know, I don't think it's as bad as people make it out to be, it's just worse than the previous 7.

Now the 5, that's where he really fvcked up, a colleague of mine is a huge BMW fan and tried to convince me that the E60 would grow on me.
It's been quite the opposite, every time I see one, I feel like punching someone, preferably the owner of the 5, or even better, Bangle himself, the 5 is just hideous, especially when compared to the magnificent E39 5.

For every person that hates his designs, there are others that love them. Just look in this very thread. You see people that hate the 5-series, yet love the 7-series. There are others that love the 5-series and hate the 7. Bangle has done an oustanding job at polarizing the public.

and he's still made old bmws look just that... old. how much longer were bmws supposed to look like they did? 2 years? 3? bmw got a good shake-up. can't wait to see if mercedes or lexus will be as brave.
