According to an article in CAR magazine issue 490 June 2003:

"Sometimes you can be a little too pleased with yourself. GM engineers testing the 400bhp Cadillac CTS V-Spec prototype at the Nurburgring Nordschliefe were all smiles after they'd offered the car to a BMW test driver who promptly beat his fastest ever M5 lap time. Until someone realised they'd just given the opposition a sneak preview of the fastest Caddy in history, that is. Doh!"

:D

In other Cadillac news, CTS-V to get upgrade to 500HP 6.0L next-gen Corvette LS6 for 2006.

There's still that "aura" about the M5 that the CTS will never have though. Did they mention the pricing on the CTS compared to the M5?

Yeah I'll take the M5 over the caddy, but still that is impressive.

I thought the XLR was only going to have 320HP? Doesn't seem right for the CTS-V to have so much more power.

The Caddy DTS is probably the nicest car on the road IMO. Beautiful interior, good to drive, all around an excellent car.

The CTS-V will likely top out at $52K. That undercuts the competition by a good 20 grand.

Why? Most Mercedes AMG sedans put out more power than, and are faster than the SL500 - some are much cheaper too. There's nothing strange about it.

Same.. I'm an M fan more than anything else from Europe so I'd definitely take the M5.

That is a very nice feather in the cap for Cadillac. They have definitely come a long way recently.
However, the CTS is just brutally ugly. It's too bad, really.

I would drive the caddy, the styling has started to grow on me and it'll be cheaper and faster. Do remember that the current M5 isn't going to be in production much longer.
