BMW M3 Tears In Two During Fatal Crash

they dont want to say conclusively but it sounds like drugs/alcohol were involved.

either way FFS ppl, take it to the track

Good thing he didn't kill anyone else with his irresponsible behavior. Too bad for his family but I have a hard time being sympathetic for an idiot who drives drunk and too fast.

Article said it was shitty driving ... he swerved, hit a curb, flipped?

Not sure how the car tore apart though ...

It never said anything about flipping. Look at the pic with the tree in it, it's a fairly small tree. When going like 100mph and hitting something that small in diameter its going to tear the car apart. Most likely he entered into a slide, hit the curb but remained upright as it slide/flew into the tree on the left side.

Kind of impressive actually to have even entered such a slide. Drivers aides on that vehicle are pretty advanced and generally attempt to keep the car pointed in the correct direction. Then again he may not have slid, simply swerved near the curb causing the rear tires to bounce up on it and then boom.

From the article:

"and the remains strongly suggest that high-speed was also a factor."

Oh really, a steel car body tears in half and speed was a factor? Mindless death. At least he didn't kill anybody else.

humm we reading the same article? I copy and pasted from the one linked in op... weird.

"Local police claim the driver lost control during a curve, sending the car into a nearby tree."

Just because it is a steel body car, doesn't mean it is safe in all directions from impact. The sides on just about all cars, is the weakest point. Any impact sideways into a tree, telephone or light pole will wrap the car around and it can snap apart. The only way to stop that is sturdy full frame rails under the passenger cell, along with stronger side impact bars in the doors. But all that add weight, cost and MPG goes down a bit.

new york plates, but accident in West Palm beach, FL? Looks like he was on a road trip
South FL is infested with New Yorkers, especially during the winter. While this is a more severe accident, there are several fatal crashes and pedestrian hit & runs every week down there.

I don't miss living there.

I didn't see any estimated speed at impact quoted in the article, but I’m guessing he must have been doing well over 100Mph to rip the car in two.
