"During recent tests, the NHTSA found that 5th-percentile women—female drivers more than 5 feet tall and weighing between 100 and 110 pounds—showed a “marginally higher risk” of sustaining neck injuries in the event of a frontal crash if not wearing a seatbelt."

...how is BMW responsible for someone that doesn't wear their seat belt? Isn't EVERY accident/car way more dangerous without a seat belt? Have to recall 30000 cars because 5% of the female population might be stupid?

I'm surprised they're not issuing a recall for the excessive injuries sustained when a user drives the car off a cliff. I mean, somebody could really get hurt in one of those death traps.

On a tangent, the i3 is a pretty cool little ride. My buddy has one & it can actually hold a metric TON of stuff inside.

I was still skeptical when I was signing the lease papers (it was a really good deal) but have found it to be an awesome city car. Holds a bunch of stuff, roomier up front than it looks, zips from 0-40 in the blink of an eye, and can fit in the smallest of spaces for street parking. Only significant downside are the tires which wear quickly and the stock all seasons suck big time under 40F. The looks have been an acquired taste...

My brother owns an i3, this is good to know as his wife drives his car. It feels very quick and effortless especially around city streets. I'm scared of driving smaller cars, myself, after I wrecked my 3 series which is why now I drive a 5 series.

What happened?

Speaking of recalls I still have 3 pending ones on my 3 series. The takata airbag issue and 2 recent ones, one which can cause a fire. All 3 as BMW has stated cannot be service at this time and they will contact me again when they're available.

Just got my Nissan passenger airbag replaced, but they also want to do the driver's side airbag in the spring. Be sure to sign up for the settlement once you get the work performed - you can get up to $250.

I’m driving an F30 335 right now as I couldn’t justify getting a 5 Series/A6 when this is my commuter car that sits on a city street. I might justify it next go around purely for the additional safety.

That's pretty d*mned scary. You buy a pricey car and there are two serious pending recalls, neither of which the manufacturer can fix now and either of which could easily kill you.

They actually recommend not parking it inside the garage until it's fixed. Not to mention I can get a face full of metal shards in an accident. Scary indeed.
