Couldn't believe that myself when I saw it on the news. Looks like it's hanging out of an office building, not a parking garage! Heck, I saw footage of it from the other side, on the street, and there's a conventional parking garage just a little down from it if I remember right. Hell, I want to know just what kind of "tap on the gas" the valet gave the SUV to cause it to smash the BMW hard enough to result in that kind of damage and the bumpers entangled enough to keep the car from going all the way out.

Me too, he must have hit it pretty damned hard to smash it through a wall/barrier!

There was a wall? Why isn't the back damaged then??

reflection of the window of the car in the wondow in the building makes it real to me.

...and the fact that it's on Yahoo news. Although it did look fake at first glance.

Wonder if this guy's parking brake was on.

Probably not. Most of the expensive automatic cars I have seen never usually have their parking brake on. Not really sure why that is. It could be due to the fact that in this country, a lot of people refer to the parking brake as the emergency brake - something I never heard whatsoever while living in Europe.

score one for the SUV market. 😉

it was probably a window, not a wall.

if a valet place has a disclaimer about not being responsible... I'm gonna have to park it myself.

Just a window it went through. The SUV pushed it so far it would've fallen but the bumper of the SUV got caught in the grillwork of the BMW which is the only thing that prevented it from going.

They had a lot of footage both video and stills here in the Atlanta area.

Can the owner sue or get some compensation? I always thought that when you valet you agree to their disclamer and are basically SOL if something happens

Oh no he'll be fully compensated and then some. If the garage were to try even try and wiggle its way out of not compensating that individual they would surely lose 90% of their business. I wouldn't think it would even cross the garages mind to not take care of the matter.

Back when the last Prelude came out, some valet was so excited to see my new Prelude SH that he jumped out of the car in front of me without putting it in park.

It was a big 70s chrome battlecruiser. The valet left the car in reverse and it proceeded to go backwards about 10 feet after he jumped out and smashed into the front of my car. It was the most helpless feeling in the world because I couldn't back up since there was someone behind me.

Nope it is not photo chopped. i had seen it on the a news report. they had a helicopter going around.

Most buildings that have glass as an outside "wall" have pretty thick glass. Where it wouldn't be easy to break it. The valet had to hit the BMW pretty hard to get it to break the window.

I know I shouldn't laugh, but lol! Did they pay?

Their insurance was supposed to pay for it but I just kept getting the run around. It wasn't that much in damage as it was just the bumper that got dented up in a few places. I had already gotten 2 bad dents/scratches on my car at that point so I gave up trying to keep it looking nice.

All photos look chopped if you stare at them long enough.
Definitely. Any picture that looks incongruous or far-fetched like this tends to look like a photoshop to me, even when I know it's real.

Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction, though, even when it comes to pictures.
