I never liked the 7 series.. Then again, I don't care much for big cars.. :\

eh, I like the 7-Series all around. The back took some getting used to, but I like it. My mom just bought an S-Class though and it is niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.

I'd certainly take one though. I don't think it looks all that bad, but I don't think I would like the I Drive. Maybe they could put in a laptop style touchpad???? :)

Well, if you look at it, the LCD can retract (similar to that on the G35). Also, the "mouse" is surrounded by buttons making top-level choices easier.

That styling has grown on me quite a bit since I first saw it back in January. I can't comment on I-Drive but after reading the article it would seem it does need to be reworked. The idea of having some functions with their own knobs is good, but for say the radio, it would make sense to provide buttons for seek, presets and volume, but have the advanced tone featured adjustable thru I-Drive. And it seems they have the climate control backwards as well. Seems to me that a climate control is more easy to use with buttons and knobs.

I read a test-drive of the 7-series a while ago. It seems that the iDrive is full of bugs. It just refused to work like it should sometimes. and in some cases, the only way to make it work again, was to shut down the car and restart it. Seems similar to rebooting Windows, which is why I was NOT surprised when I found out that iDrive uses Windows CE ;)

I know it is a matter of taste. But I hope the thick and chunky school of style that is poplular for cars these days goes away soon.

No, you've got it all wrong. It doesn't need a face-lift, it needs lipo on its ass.

lol, definately, and from what I heard about sales numbers, they should fire that new lead designer ASAP before he cause more damage

I just want to know what they're going to do to screw up my standard choice, the 5-series, next.

I would be seriously thinking Audi next if they make the 5-series more effeminate.

I know you're not asking me, but the site of a 2001/2002 E38 740i sport is something to behold! One beautiful car!

WRONG!! Whoever gave you the sales numbers doesn't know what they're talking about. The new 7-Series is selling better than than the old one:

2002 7-Series sales through July '01: 9,091
2003 7-Series sales through July '02: 12,837

maybe in the states but usually the states are a fairly small market for the european manufacturers - maybe not on the 7 series

but those 100000 cars they sell in the is not that much compared to the close to 1000000 overall
