I am going to add my two cents in here. BMW makes nice cars, but the three series as a whole are way overpriced. I see a ton of morons around here with their 318 w/ steel rims driving around saying "look I can afford a BMW" I don't want to start a flame war, but that is my perspective.

hmm i wonder how it would feel driving an SSG, btw NFS4, the other day i was reading on that site after one of your posts and read the about section, man this guy is amazing, the impression i got when i first saw the site is that its some huge professional publication, then i find out its a one man show, and one man who never owned a car and lives in one of the most crowded cities in the world, truely amazing that one person can acomplish this with just passion. :)

A guy that works in the building next to me has a brand new M3,
looks sweet with the new "flared fenders" and dual exhaust, but way too much $ for a guy like me.

Sequential Gearbox!! Man that is cool...I've never seen a factory SSG only performance ones that cost a lot of money. I wonder how durable it will be

I think there will always be 'haters' and people with complaints..

and uh.. 318 is a piece of crap. :) people here drive 323's thinking they're something.. but we know it's nothing that special..

I don't like where BMW is going .. 7-series looks like crap now and this new 3-series looks OK, but not really an improvement.

The front end is ok..I think I liked the old one better. I don't like the rear too much. Seems kinda plain or flat or something.

On the same page, there was a section on the future 7 series. Man, does it look fugly. How can BMW ever let a car designed like that come into production? Well, when I first saw the mercedes benz s class design, I didn't like it either, but now I think it has grown on me. But I don't think I'll ever like the look of the 7 series.

LOL

I was walking by a parked 318 with HUBCAPs when I said to my friend "how the hell can you buy a BMW and not get real rims on your car?" when I realized the driver of the car was in the car. She wasn't amused.

Buahahahahahahaha!!! People who buy base model "stripper" BMW's with 4-clyinder engines, hub caps and cloth interiors are attention-seeking wannabe yuppies ;) They haven't made the step up to full fledged yuppie (which requires, cast alloy rims, leather interior, and at least an inline-6 engine):p

What was the look on the chick's face? ;)

You know. She had that snotty look like, how dare you make fun of my BMW? What kind of POS do you drive?

Unfortunately, I was a poor college student at the time so anything was better than what I had :(

I have seen that site before, and that guy is nothing but a pampered crybaby with an axe to grind. He has had a few bad experiences with a BMW M3, and has spooled them into a paranoid worldview of BMW's cars and business practices. If he bought a BMW M3 with the expectation that it would offer the docility and perfect reliability of, say, a Civic, he was kidding himself and I have a hard time taking his complaints seriously. Try comparing an M3 to its REAL competition and it looks economical, practical, and tremendously reliable.

In all fairness (sometimes I just feel I HAVE to be the devil's advocate :)), I have driven a 318i and found it to be a lot of fun. If I were to buy a Bimmer I would probably get a 325i with vinyl seats (that BMW vinyl is really nice and feels better than the leather on many cars for much cheaper). In all fairness, though, I would NEVER buy a 4-cylinder Bimmer (to me the inline 6 is essential to the soul of the car), nor would I drive one with steel wheels and hubcaps.

I love the M3 myself and was on the wait list to get the new one but my friend who has the previous gen M3 has had nothing but bad luck with his M3.

He just recently repaired the suspension on his car repaired. He tells me there is something structural wrong with the rear suspensions in M3s in that the metal plating in the trunk just gives and the rear suspension just breaks through. He was driving along one day and hit a bump then he hears a crash and the car feels lowered a bit. He checks out the trunk and sees his suspension in the trunk. It cost him $1500 out of his own pocket to fix. Then last week, it happened again! This time on the other side. When I saw his car yesterday, he had an assortment of blown taillights and the LED lights on his spoiler were flickering.

He loves the drivability of his car but all the repairs are driving him nuts. This is on an M3 with 27K miles.
