Blurry text?

I was having trouble running Civ4 so as recommended, I installed the latest driver for my BFG 6800. After installation, all Windows text looks crappy--Blurry! It's as if each letter has a shadow. I reverted to the previous driver version (66 or 68.something), and played with different screen resolutions, but the problem persisted.

I recall having a similar issue in the past, but can't remember the fix. Help?

BFG 6800 (plain version), NEC Multisync LCD1765

update: The problem was because I did not use the LCD's native resolution after updating the driver.

I uninstalled, then re-installed the driver--no luck. Each time I do that, the blurriness looks different. Sometimes, the 'shadow' is above the text, sometimes, it's below.

Also, in one incarnation, the blurriness was inconsistent across the monitor! As far as I can tell, only text is affected.

Are you using a VGA or DVI connection for your LCD? If it's VGA, try pressing Auto-Adjust.

Maybe a remnant of an old driver is wreaking havoc on your system. Try using Driver Cleaner Pro, clean out your old nVidia display drivers, then re-install to the latest drivers.

I am so embarrassed--I wasn't using the LCD's native res!

After updating the driver, the computer rebooted to a low-res setting, so I restored it to what I thought was the correct setting (1280x960). The LCD's native res is 1280x1024 . . . It's fixed now.

 Thanks for responding.
