a couple of days ago i managed to built my new pc, but as the title say i'm getting stuck with blurry text and shitty quality images/videos

this is my build:

  • Intel Core i5-7500 3.4GHz 6MB
  • MSI H270 PC Mate
  • Corsair VS550 CP-9020097
  • GIGABYTE NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti WINDFORCE OC 4 G 4 GB
  • Ballistix Sport LT 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR4 2400 MT/s (PC4-19200) DR x8 DIMM 288-Pin
  • Samsung MZ-75E250B/EU SSD 850 EVO, 250 GB
  • wd blue 1tb hd
here what i'ave done so far:

installed win 10 64, tried it on the new monitor (AOC e2460Sh) but i was uncofortable with the image quality and the formet (i'm used to 16:10), so i switched to a philips 220V4LSB because it was more similar to my older philips 190cw (yeah it's probably bad but i was uncofortable with a 24 inch 16/9 and could not afford a better one, still looks decent on old pc), while i was waiting for the other monitor i tried the new pc on the older monitor with a vga-dp adapter (aoc was connected with a hdmi cable) but image was still bad, so i tried checking both monitors with my old pc with vga-dvi-i cable, and they both looked good (yeah, even with vga cable image was much better), i even tried usimng the aoc with the vga-dp cable but still bad quality imange.

the new monitor finally arrived and i tried that as well, with vga-dp cable and with a dvi-d cable, again shitty quality on new pc and good quality on the old one, that makes 5 cables and 3 monitors, all the monitors looks better on the old pc but have blurry image on the new one.

so i tried with a different OS, maybe it was just win 10 (i have 7 32 bit on the old pc) so i downloaded 7 64 bit, managed to install it (not without issues...) aaaand...the image is still bad, it may look less bad than win 10, but still bad

note: win 10 is on the ssd while win 7 is on wd hd

since my mobo had an integrated vga i tried that too, after removing the pci vga, but nothing changed...i tried using 1 one ram switching slots, tried with both of them, but nothing change

i forgot to mention i tried with both os with different dpi settings, tried win 10 dpi fix, tried with cleartype, both enabled and disabled (on my old pc it looks better with that disabled on all the monitors)

ah obviusly all the monitors are running at native resolution and at 60hz on both the machines, i also tried cleaning the drivers with ddu and reinstall them, on both win 7 and 10

i'm running out of ideas...halp

You are cursed! You have bad luck!

Seriously, this had "bad video card" written all over it... until you used the on-board video. It could also be really, really bad luck with multiple cables and monitors, but doubtful.

I'm leaning towards power supply, maybe motherboard, but it would be a good idea to make sure it is not some goofy Windows issue.

This test has the advantage of being free, other than your time.

Remove your video card, run only one hard drive (any old crappy drive will work), and use the on-board video only for this test. Download linux Zorin and give it a full install, just to be sure, then update it. If you can, run it wired (rather than wireless).

If it looks good, then Windows hates your configuration for "whatever' reason, and you can hit at it from that angle.

If it still looks crappy, then it is hardware, 100%. At that point, you could be looking at an issue with the power supply giving bad EM feedback, which has been known in the past to cause such issues. It happened to me once, and it was hell on wheels to figure it out. It is rather uncommon, but it can happen.

Either way, software first, then hardware.

Make sure custom scaling (in Windows 10 at least) is turned off (set it at 100%).

sorry for taking so long to answer back, i've been quitebusy these days, and after 5 days spent trying to fix this issue i needed a break...anyway...

your message made me think, i have tried all those cables with various monitor, but i actually never tried another power cable with the psu...mostly because i have only the old ones i use on the other pc wich had quite a lot of problems on his own...so that's another thing i can try, it's unlikely but who knows...

also, if the problem its software might as well be a windows update that give me problems, since the last time i've downloaded the latest iso from ms site, i'm now downloading 2 clean iso, without any update, just to be 100% sure about that, i'm also downloading zorin, my connection is quite slow, might take a quile...

at last...i can try with the old psu from the old pc, its only 450w (or 500), but without the gpu, the ssd and a couple of fans, should still be enough to reach the desktop and open a browser to check if i still got the problem...

if none of these things will work, i assume it'd be a compatibility issue like you said, or something faulty between mobo, ram and cpu...i'll update as soon as i manage to try all these things, and thx for answering

this was one of the very first things i tried, i also tried dpi fixes but nothing, it's the reason why i ended up installing 7, just to check if it was a windows 10 related issue or not, but like i said, i have the same problem on 7, wich i dont have on the other pc with the same os

so...after losing so much time because of corrupted iso and drives that didnt want to cooperate...i manged to try linux and the other clean os, still the same result, still blurred, on linux it seemed fine on some applications, but i guess it was because of the different font/size, overall even linux bar and all its blurry anyway, so i guess it's not windows.

i also tried with diferent cables as i said, nothing changed, but something weird happened, pc was turned off (obviously) and everything was unplugged, i plugged the cable into the psu and then into the power socket...and the pc turned on...i was pretty far from keyboard/mouse and i'm 100% sure i actually turned off the pc and not just put it into sleep mode...

I have an ultrawide LG monitor with a 21:9 aspect ratio. If I use anything besides a Display port cable, I have the blurry text and the crappy display you speak of. My suggestion would be to remove ALL adapters from the equation... DP to VGA or DP to DVI have a bad habit of giving a blurry resolution. I'm a tech in a hospital and have seen this more times than I care to mention. I'd use a normal Display Port cable and possibly install drivers for your monitor so Windows can detect the resolution you are wanting to display at.

Hope this helps!
