Blurry/corrupt text on Win 7 with ATI graphics

Some of the text on my system is not displaying properly. It happens in application menus and Windows context menus, Windows dialogs, etc.

My current video card is an old Sapphire HD 4870 1GB. Usually I use a MSI GTX 680 but I had to RMA it for repair/replacement because one of the fans stopped working.

I uninstalled the Geforce drivers before I removed the 680. When I uninstalled the drivers, the system seemed to reboot in the middle of the process, which is a bit weird.

If I switch off ClearType, it looks a little better, but still not normal.

Catalyst version: 13.9

Can it be fixed? Or should I just try to put up with it until I get my 680 back (don't want to risk messing up settings for the 680)?

Well, that should not be happening. Windows 7 and the 4870 have been out for ages.

I would go through an actually wipe all the nVidia and AMD drivers using one of the various tools. And then re-install the latest WHQL drivers for the 4xxx series.
