Bluray Player & Receiver

Whirlwind

Senior member
I am looking for a bluray player that will give me the best sound and a receiver for it that will allow me to use my headphones.

I have heard I will need a player that supports HD audio ect. and the receiver must have HDMI to get the most out of the bluray player.

Amybody that can steer me in thr right direction...it will be much appreciated.

Also anybody have any suggestions for a player and a receiver.

If all you want to use is headphones then you're done. No need for a receiver. If you want to run speakers you could even hook the oppo multichannel outs directly to amps for your various speakers.

If you're going to have the receiver do the digital-audio conversion than the oppo is overkill. Any old BD player will do at that point as long as it supports the format. Receivers are a whole other can of worms depending on what speakers you're driving etc. etc.

Are there any other Bluray players that support Dolby True HD & DTS-HD Master Audio.....and also have a headphone jack

In a word: No.

Just no point in buying a BD player "for better sound" if it can't actually output better sound. Really, cd audio isn't bad. Given your setup, maybe just grab a drive for your computer and route it through your sound card + amp might be the most economical way forward.

I don't know. Receivers change every year and I don't keep up unless I'm in the market for one. I don't use headphones with my receiver so I never paid attention to the headphone amps on them even when I was in the market.

What's wrong with the Oppo model linked?

IMO, support for those formats/codecs is fairly irrelevant if you're going to be listening over headphones.
