BluRay Bad, Replace entire Home Theater?

I bought a Samsung home Theater System HT-BD2E about 5 years ago. When I bought it, I had the surround sound speakers professionally installed at my house (with the speaker wiring inside the walls).

Last month, my Blu Ray stopped working, so I'm wanting to replace it, and I'll need a receiver along with it.

My question is, will I have to replace the speakers that came with it or not? The sales rep at Best Buy says I'll have to get new speakers, and hire the professional to come over and install the wiring in the walls.

I thought I would just be able to strip off the ends of the speaker wires, and connect them to a new receiver. The guy at Best Buy tells me that the speakers' wiring will not work well with systems other than the HT-BD2E. Is he right?

did the installer use the included wire set?

for this general use, i'd think you could re use them even if you had to cut the ends off unless they're really small gauge and the replacement system tries to output more power.

Sense you said you had it professionally installed, i'd hope they used better wire behind the walls to allow for upgrading. But they may not have done so.

What does the wire look like that connects to the receiver from the each speaker? Is it just regular 2-pair copper that is stripped or is it some proprietary connector that plugs into the receiver?

HT-BD2E has a 2 star average review on Amazon, with many reporting failure to play a BluRay. The speaker connection looks like the same as used on all cheap receivers, a spring clip where you push down on a small lever and poke the wire in a hole and release the lever to hold the wire. To remove it, push down on the level and pull out the wire, no need to cut or do anything special.

You need some knowledgeable help that isn't getting paid to sell you junk.

Yup, the HT-BD2E is a POS...doesn't play BluRay. It sounds like the sales rep at Best Buy might be trying to rip me off.

Thanks for the advice guys.

BTW taking a guess, one look at the back on the unit and the connection to the wall should confirm that the wiring in the wall has wall plates, it doesn't go as one piece from box to speakers, but as three segments, box to wall, in wall, wall to speakers.
