Blur Beta Keys

I also snagged one from Kotaku. It will be interesting to see what this is like--"realistic" Mario Kart?

It's funny how the only worthwhile Kart racing game has been Mario Kart on the Wii for a long while. Now we are going to see Sega & Sonic All Stars Racing, Blur, ModNation Racers (PS3), and Joyride (Xbox 360) in the same year.

Not saying all of them will be great but its funny to see them all come out the same year after such a drought.

FilePlanet is giving away keys as well. The promos make it look like Project Gotham Racing meets Burnout with just a hint of Wip3out XL...this could be very interesting indeed.

I got mine from fileplanet. Looks like it's available to ALL fileplanet subscribers, so you guys can sign up there.

I haven't got mine yet... 🙁

*edit* NVM, I signed up for two of 'em and I got the other code...I "should" have a spare if anyone needs one (and my buddy doesn't want it).

I've already downloaded it but need to get something else done before I can jump on it. Hopefully, i"ll be able to play within the next hour or so.

Gave it a whirl, did 8 races. Won 3 of 'em (should have been 4 but the game flipped out and moved me from 1st to 2nd with like 2 feet to go even though there was no-one near me...), placed in the top 3 five times of the eight.

The game is kind of fun but I hope they plan on making this an arcade game as it's nowhere near anything I'd pay retail price for...like maybe $15 or so. It almost feels like a game that you should play on an iPhone. It doesn't even feel as complete as Mario Kart. There is zero skill involved for winning, honestly it's all about getting a lead early while everyone behind you beats the snot out of each other. Two of the races I won on was the same locale (some sort of desert area) and both races I won with more than 15 seconds between me and 2nd place...

I'll play it a bit more but thus far it feels like a disorganized mix of Mario Kart and Outrun...but not nearly as fun as either...

Played about 8-10 races earlier tonight. Enjoyed it quite a bit. Very chaotic at times, but there is a good deal of arcadeish racer skill going on too.

Played a few rounds of this earlier...definitely Project Gotham Racing meets Wipeout XL. This appears to be a good thing. 🙂

I agree that it's too easy to win once you're out in front. The first place guy needs to have more of a disadvantage or something. It's way too easy to counter those homing shunts which is the only way to slow the 1st place guy down.

IMO that's the only thing holding it back. I like the mechanics of it all. The powerups all have their uses, and the really powerful ones can be countered or evaded well enough.

I played a bunch last night and really like it. Though, I still haven't managed to place higher than 3rd. I have trouble with proper racecar driving in the midst of all the chaos. Any tips?

If you want to win, try to take the first corner clean for the hole-shot to get away from everybody else.

If you want to have fun, stay in the pack and blow the crap out of everybody while trying to avoid attacks.

Honestly, I've won one race because I got a clean hole-shot while everyone else piled up behind me. That was the most boring of all the races I have raced in the beta. I enjoyed being in the pack, trading paint, shunts, and mines more.

Steer towards the inside of turns when you can; depending on the track, that can be very important. Apart from that, it's pretty straightforward...avoid everything coming at you that isn't a car.
