Hello. I was recommended from a friend to start using a head set for communication on the computer (since most of my friends happen to have "upgraded" from typing stuff out to Skype chatting *shrugs*). Even though I do not see the need to use such a device I thought "Might as well try something new". So I went ahead and started looking around.

To be honest. Having a headset, and wired with that, on your head is not something desirable to me so I thought maybe I could use a bluetooth earset. As I happen to have plans on getting a basic cellphone with bluetooth capabilities soon I figure that if I can use that same earset for both computer and cellphone communication I could end up saving money and meet two needs (well the latter not being really a need per se).

My tech question: is it generally possible to connect a bluetooth earset, via router, to a computer? Is there a way to determine as to which device the earset can be set to pick up signal from (that is, is there a "switch" that can switch the bluetooth earpiece from device to device without confusion).

And, if this is not practical nor wise to do, then what product suggestions can you make as I'm willing to compromise having myself wired to a headset.

Thanks for the help

First of all, no router that I know of has bluetooth, at least in a form that a PC can access. (Bluetooth-over-ethernet doesn't exist, AFAIK). You would need to get a (USB) bluetooth dongle, that will come with software (a bluetooth stack).

Second, there's no switch on a bluetooth device to switch between what it's connected to. Instead, there is something that puts it in "association" mode (not the correct term for it), and when in that mode, you enable something on the other device, and the two are thus paired together, until you choose to re-associate the device.
