Bluetooth on a laptop???

I'm in the market for a laptop and they now have bluetooth on laptops... Such as the IBM X41, T43 & Dell Latitude X1.

Why is it so beneficial to have bluetooth though?

Is it so you can sync your PDA cellphone???

I'd love to have Bluetooth on my laptop for the simplicity of a wireless mouse without a transmitter hanging off the USB port waiting to get ripped out.

I mostly use it to dial up to the internet when I'm away from a wireless network. When I get more devices, it'll become more useful to me.

BT mice are nice, but there is not that big of a selection, and they cost almost twice as much as their wireless (w/ usb transmitter) counterparts. A BT headset can go between a BT phone and a VOIP laptop (Skype). A BT phone can also transfer games, images, ringtones, and contacts between the phone and laptop.

so i guess this is useful especially for your phone..

another use of BT: card readers.
businessmen can just send their name card via BT to the recipant's laptop or a standalone card reader. quite useful for those ppl.

I can get internet through my phone (without taking it out of my pocket), and it only uses minutes.

that alone is cool enough for me

which carrier???

verizon, v710 phone. yes, I know, OBEX is crippled, blah, blah. I don't have a use for it so it doesn't bother me.

BT > IR. Forget MX700s. Buy the MX900 and get the full BT station which allows ur laptop to get BT.

I have a Motorola V600 and I'm not going to buy a cable. Same with my PDA. Nice and handy. Too few people use BT in this world. I see everyone with their wired hands free headsets while I'm the only one walking around with my BT headset. They're like wtf is that? Yar...
