Bluetooth issues/downgrading 3g ipod touch

The bluetooth on this ipod touch cuts out every so often. I have tried 3 different devices, so I want to downgrade the firmware in hopes of it fixing it. But everytime I try with itunes and holding down shift while selecting the older firmware I downloaded I get an error. Any ideas?

You are most likely out of luck. Apple doesn't allow downgrading to an earlier firmware and unless you were jailbroken and saved your SHSH blobs (which also doesn't work anymore with newer firmware versions) there is no good way to downgrade that I know of.
