bluetooth extender with longer range ?

i'm looking for a bluetooth device that would allow me to use my headset in various rooms throughout the house and also just outside my house (brick). I found a hack for a normal bluetooth dongle.. but i'm not really comfortable doing it. so i'm curious if anything exists that would allow me to listen to use my headset outside as well when I goto smoke or whatever. I wouldn't be going far from the house.

the current one I have stops working even if I go into the next room.

I know there has to be something available because my headset works on the PS3 if I go outside and stay under my window.. but if I move anywhere else it doesn't.

any suggestions? (looking for computer not ps3)

Make sure you get a class 1 bluetooth adapter, and then play with the placement of your computer. You probably want to go with a central location if possible that broadcasts to the areas that you want. I've also found that having the bluetooth adapter up higher on the wall, using a usb extension cable seems to help.
