Blue screens: Power supply?

I am getting blue screens, almost exclusively while playing games (WoW). At first I thought it was my MB (Abit KN8 SLI) so, I replaced it with an Asus A8N-SLI Premium but, I am getting the same blue screens. Here is my config:

AMD 3800X2
1 gig of Patriot ram
Asus A8N-SLI Prem.
evga 7800gt
(1) Seagate 80gig IDE
(1) Seagate 300gig sata
DVD/CDRW
Thermaltake 430w PS
Antec SuperLanboy

I am now thinking I am too underpowered in the power supply. The only other thing I could think of would be memory or it's overheating but the temps seem fine and my experience with overheating is it just shuts down - BSOD.

Any thoughts?

Ive been told that nF4 chips need alot of power and they really wont like a low powered PSU. I would recommend trying out a psu with dual 12v rails totalling to atleast 30a. Thats what people recommended me...

Question? Why would the linked PSU have 18A on the -5V line, when most good PSUs only
have 0.8A on the -5V line?

Answer, because most sub-standard PSUs hide wattage rating in unused rails.
Some PSUs will have 40 to 45A on the 5V rail. Only server PSUs need that on the 5V.

That's a crime TT does that :(

If you have a spare PSU, plug it in and see what you get OP.
Your PSU could be getting hot, then output is reduced till it cools back down.

Dual 12V rails are NOT needed.

Just to see what a VG PSU's spec looks like. Go to Newegg, look at the spec on the
350 watt Zippy. Compare it's output to most of the 450 watt PSUs Newegg offers.
The Zippy is rated at 40C full output. Most cheap PSUs are rated at 25C full output.

FSP GROUP=Fortron or Sparkle, EnerMax, Seasonic, Zippy/Emacs.

There is a boat load of PSU reccomendation threads over in General Hardware.
Read part of the stickied thread on 24 pin plugs over in GH. Do you want a rear 80mm fan
or a 120mm fan in the base of the PSU. All your call buddy.

You DO NOT need over 25A on the 3.3V or 30A on the 5V. You want 25A+ on the 12V.
On dual 12V PSUs look to see what the combined output is. Most of the time 12V1@15A
and 12V2@15A does NOT equal 30A but 20A. Combined is what you look at on dual 12 rail
PSUs. They trick us there too.

Save your old PSU for it's connectors and bench testing fans ;)

Good morning.
Yes. This would be the minumum. It's a good unit and the one that is most reccomended for those on a budget, On it's link go to manufacture's site then look at the pdf of the spec sheet. See the way this unit delivers it's power,ie, condition 1 thru 8.
If you buy this unit, hook it up as per the manual.

For a PSU that will give you the most output for the lea$t. Froogle Sparkle 550 watt, it should come up at $83. This PSU would be a little overkill but it is a VG PSU for the dough.
Fortron/Sparkle are both manufactured by the FSP Group. Good stuff ;)

I'd go in a fast second with the PSU you first linked over this 480.

They both spec the same on the two 12V lines. This Antec has a high 5v amperage that is not necessary. The speced wattage is boosted by doing that. It does have an LED fan=Weee!

We have had many posts over in GH about PSU problems with Antec units and at this point in time would avoid the brand, but that's just me as others have had no problems.

If you wish for a high output unit go with the 550 Sparkle. It's down-side is the 80mm fan that can ramp-up under 60% load. Just be a tad noisy compared to the 120mm in the 450 Fortron.

Well, I have the FSP PS installed and I just got another blue screen so it must be something else that is causing my problems...ran memorytest and it all checked out. Not sure what else it could be. I do have the stock HSF on it but my temps would have to be really high to get a BSOD.

Ideas?

How many loops of Memtest did you run? It's to my knowledge that you should let it run for like 8 hours or so... just a thought

Definitely didn't run it that long. I guess I can let it run over night...providing it doesn't crash.
