i had 128mb generic pc2100.
i upgraded to 512mb Mushkin pc2700 ram that i got from a friend for free

at default voltage, it crashes my computer every 2 minutes or so
i upped the voltage to its max (dont know if this is recommended) but it works for hours and hours crashing like once every 5 hours

voltage helped the crashes, but what else can i do in order to try to stabalize my system so it never does?
probably bad ram i guess..

Also, with these new voltage settings, if my computer is off for some time, and i power it up, it takes a few bootups to finally get into win XP. Does ram have to WARM up? thanks in advance for the tips.

hi,
if the only thing you changed was the memory, it's likely the memory. try reseating it and maybe using another dimm slot. also try using memtest or docmemory to test the ram.
what mb are you using?
and no, ram never needs to warm up.
mushkin should give you an rma.
good luck
