Blue Screen on Red Hat Install

I just downloaded and burned the 3 cd set of install cds for Red Hat 7.3. All the md5sums are correct so the CD's are good. Upon booting from CD 1, I get the press enter to install screen, I then press enter and I get a nice banner at the top of the screen with clouds that says "Red Hat" and text below it documenting a standard looking linux boot. As far as I can tell, there are no terribly disturbing messages here. After this finishes, I am taken to a blue screen, where the computer stays. The computer is NOT hard frozen, as the keyboard lights still function and I can ALT-CTRL-DEL to reset the computer. The regular, text, and Media Verify install options all take me to the same place. I'm inclined to suspect my video card, a Radeon 8500 LE. Specs are below. Any advice would be great.

Also, all timings in BIOS are standard. Toggeling ACPI and PNP settings had no effect, nor did toggeling the video bios caching option.

Leadtek 7350KDA Motherboard (sis735)
Athlon 1600+

Seagate Barricuda IV
Liteon 12x CD burner (used for installation)

I haven't had problems with my Radeon 8500 with mandrake 7.2. I wonder if it's the hdd controller?

The two messages of note that I have now noticed on boot:

1) IDE controller is not 100% native, will probe IRQs later
2) Sis advanced pIRQ steering not yet supported

any ideas?

Peace,
will
