This happened once before when i was messing around w/ OCing my x23800 - i had it around 2.5 w/ stock hs when my comp suddenly shut down to the blue screen of doom. It said if this was the first time restart your computer, if it occurs again you have to check the disk space/drives etc... ctr/alt/del didn't work here so i had to manually restart. - The technical error codes or something read ' *** stop: 0x0000007E and nv4_disp.dll

Now it happened again while i was in the midst of a feirce battle with the sands of time. I've been playing prince of persia using my onboard 6100 and it has been fine. This is the first time ive had this problem since i messed around with oc'ing. Upon start up microsoft analysis said the error was caused by an unknown driver and it was categorized as a 'stop error'.

anyone know how to troubleshoot this problem? Thanks in advance.

I could open the dump with a debugger, but most likely you already have the problem staring right at you - nv4_disp.dll. Are you running the latest version of your nVidia display drivers?

Update the nVidia drivers to the latest version. That should resolve the issue.

Well as always try running stock speeds first (if you are OCing). Then try updating the NVIDIA drivers.

Problem fixed- I narrowed it down a bit first... the problem only occured when i did a certain combination of moves in the game... too much stress or something i really have no idea but after updating the nvidia drivers its all good.
Thanks so much to everyone!

The problem was bad nVidia drivers. They updated them, so the machine no longer crashes. Bad drivers do bad things.
