I got a technical error while installing GTAIV on my computer. I was 1/2 way through the install (and I have all the required things downloaded and installed that the game requires) and I got this.

STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x00000003, 0x89017380, 0x890174F4, 0x805D297C)

If you guys know what to do, please tell me, I sure would mighty appreciate it. Thanks

You don't say what OS you are using anyway do you have latest DX9.0C installed, drivers all updated, try a diffierent DVD drive too.

Try the game disc on another PC to rule out a bad game disc.

Check the cables to your drives, and check your memory with memtest86+

Is that a program or a run program?

I run Professional XP with the downloaded service pack 3. I also downloaded Netframework 3.5 from Microsoft's website, so I could be able to fit the requirements of the game.

Memtest86+ tests your ram to see if its faulty or not.

Download the Memtest86+ .iso, burn it to a cd as a .iso, then boot to the cd, and check your memory for errors. I'd let it run overnight. It can take awhile for errors to appear.

Ah ha! I see now, I know that my ram is faulty but it works on most games. I get the feeling that it has alot to do with the ram sticks. I wanted to know what the problem was but it seems as though it was in front of my face the entire time. Thanks. I thought it was something besides my ram sticks.

Mildly faulty ram can sometimes work for a surprisingly long time before it screws you. Some software is more sensitive to bad ram than others.
