I go into the game menu fine then just when the game is about to start, I get a blue screen of death. Is my video card stuffed? or something more simple. I've done no real major chages lately.

-Check directx is the correct required version
-make sure directx corresponds to drivers requirement
irrespective of directx
-make sure drivers are recent and correct, might help to try with drivers that others use and are known to work well with your card
-could try nvidia's drivers if you're using leadtek's, if they provide any
could even be irq problem
If you post what the blue screen says, could help in guiding you/us.

I unclocked the video card, installed the latest nvidia drivers. Removed my dusty dust filter at the front of my PC. Tried Fifa2004, was able to play without locking up, but my PC speaker was beeping now and then. I then tried reven shield and it rebooted automatically so i couldn't write down the blue screen error. gonna try to download latest bios update for my video card.

I did notice that my video card is sharing IRQ 16 with USB universal host controller but i have no conflicts.

I was running asus probe in the back ground while playing Fifa 2004 and the alarm from my PC speaker was sounding. I then exited fifa and noticed that the +3.3v was dropping low, it's currently at 3.232v and it was dropping below that, I think this is my problem. What's the cause? I'm running a 420watt power supply.

I had the exact same problem with an Nforce board running GEIL RAM.... everytime I tried to run a 3D app, the system would crash to a BSOD. The RAM was running shared with the onboard video card memory. Better quality RAM solved the problem.

Not sure if that applies to you... but might be worth checking out. Quirky RAM causes problems like what you are describing (at least in my case).

I don't think it's my ram, I've got Corsair XMS3200 400Mhz. Everything has been running perfectly for a year plus going on 2. I've even tried underclocking my CPU.

What does the +3.3V control? It's still running at 3.232v today.

Should I up my AGP voltage? It's set at auto at the moment.

I did notice these problems occured after installing and ad-ware removal program, could this have removed something it shouldn't have? or is it a hardware issue?

I tried to do a WinXP reinstallation. With 13 minutes left to go I get an error message with something to do with the unregmp2.exe and msdart.dll. It halts, there is nothing i can do. Now I'm using my laptop. I'm going tohave to do a new installation of winxp but I'm worried about loosing my files even if my windows directory is a different name. What command do I type to copy all my files and folders onto another one of my drives?

What brand of PS is it?

A good 330W is far better than a BAD 500W ;)

Well it's not a software problem, I did a fresh install of WinXP. PC speaker beeps during a 3D game sometimes blue screen crash.

It's gotta be a hardware problem. I'm thinking power supply, or could it be Video card? Motherboard? CPU? it's only when running a 3D game.

Did I forget to mention that I recently installed a WD SATA 74Gb Raptor, so I've got 3 Hard-Drives running & am waiting on a DVD-RW Drive so that'll make it 3 optical drives aswell.

Should I just try a Larger power supply first???

It isn't the power supply or at least not for the reasons you mentioned....that 3.3v reading at 3.23v is quite acceptable. The general rule of thumb is 5% plus or minus....

meaning

do not go below 3.135 with 5%...

The 3.3v is going to control things like the vdimm, but you will notice you do not even give 3.3v to the vdimm. You only give it somewhere like 2.5v to 2.8v on most boards.

I think it may be some system memory going bad....run memtest for awhile and see if you get any errors...

I think it very well could be the cpu and you state only in 3d games but it appears there is issues in installing winxp as well, right?....A 1.625v on that asus mobo means more so you actually may be delievering 1.65-1.675v...I have seen higher but you really need to relax the oc back down and see if the issue goes away...

Thanks for your help Duvie, I think you found my problem.

I first tried running my CPU at 2.26Ghz (default) and with the voltage at 1.55 even 1.525, but not go, still beeped in 3D games.

I then ran memtest for a bit, then at 960 cycles and 1094% it found an error and after that more.

So it must be the mem. I have 2 sticks of 512 and still have to pull them out 1 at a time to hopefully find 1 faulty stick.

Thanks again.

Sorry to go on about this guys. But my pc speaker is still sound and also had another blue screen, said something about the graphics driver nv.dll or something.

I'm still leaning towards a faulty power supply. I had pcprobe running in the back ground while polaying a 3d game and the 3.3v went below it's 5% threshold and the pcprobe warning sounded.

Still testing the memory. I pulled out a stick and still get errors. I tried prime95 and had an error.

I ran memtest-86 v3.0 for 6+ hours and it found no errors with the 1 stick of DDR I currently have installed.

IMHO that power supply is crap. I'd rather have an antec 300w over some no name 500w power supply. Get an antec true power 430 power supply.

Well I changed the memory stick over with the one I pulled out before. My PC speaker doesn't beep no more while playng 3D games.

I also changed the video card so I hope it wasn't my old card that was faulty.

I've noticed that the +3.3 voltage is higher than before, does faulty memory draw +3.3 voltage???

I've got my new power suppy anyway. I got an Antec truepower 480watt supply. Still gotta fit it.
