I can start N4S Undergound and watch the intro.
After the intro is over it goes to the Title Screen where is says "Press Enter"

I press enter and just a sec later I get the fatal blue screen and the computer reboots.
Unfortunetly the screen boots entirely too quick and I cannot read what has caused the blue screen.

Reloaded Windows XP Home, Updated my Video, Sound, and VIA chipset drivers.
Windows is fully up to date also.

I have tried different mem, and video card and have had the same results.
I have also disabled my Sound Card in Device Manager and still have the problem

My system is:
AMD 1.2 Socket A
Epox 8kta3 mobo
512 mb mem
Gforce 4 4200 Ti 128mb
2 40GB HD's

I am spyware and virus free.
I've had this problem while having both NAV2003 and Symantec Antivirus 8.0 installed.

I have played this game in the past. I put it down one day and several months later went to play it again and this is when it started. Been living with this problem since about Oct and i'm ready to have it fixed.

Other games have similar problems. I loaded the old MS Combat Flight Sim. and it will not run either.
The PC locks up on GAME 2 in 3DMark2003, and will not even load Doom3 because of this problem.

PLEASE HELP. I'm desprate.

I have just downloaded and installed the NFS Demo and got the same reboot when I press enter to start the game from the Title screen.

Ideas?

You can make XP not automatically reboot when it blue screens. Maybe then you can get a clue about what's happening.

Control Panel > System > Advanced tab > Startup and Recovery Settings > uncheck 'Automatically restart'

Nohr, thanks for the info. I didn't know about that check box. Here's what I have found.
On the blue screen it gives the following info.

problem caused by the following file. nv4_disp.dll
page_fault_in_nonpaged_area

some tech info and crap
then..

nv4_disp.dll - address BF1803F5 base at BF011200, Datestamp 4182EB4E

So something to do with the nvidia drivers. I have loaded both archived drivers and the newest drivers from nvidia.

I hope we can all figue this out now.

installed VIA 4in1 drivers
installed nvidia drivers.

I uninstalled the current 66.93 drivers.
Rebooted into safe mode. installed the new beta drivers.
Rebooted into normal mode.
PLAYED N4S Underground.
