Hi,
This is my first post on these forums and I was wondering you yall could help me out. My friend has a Hp laptop, and abotu 50% of the time she plays a dvd, halfway through she gets a bluescreen. I would just tell her to reformat. But she doesnt know much about comps, and I'm not there to help her with it.
The dvd drive works fine when playing anything else in the world, (vcd's, music, games...etc.) but not DVD's

Things I've tried so far: Uninstalled drives, reinstalled. Removed drive, reinstalled

If you have any info, I'd really appreciate it, and so would she.

Thanks in advance,
Stephen

Is this an HP drive? If so, is there a way to upgrade the firmware on it?

Perhaps it mucks up the Layer change? I second the idea of looking for new Firmware.

I checked the HP site, there is no firmware upgrade for her particular DVD drive...

I also checked to see if DMA is enabled, but I cant seem to find where to do it.
I went to : Mycomputer>properties>devicemanager>"Her Drive properties" and searched through the tabs but couldnt find anything about DMA....

anyother suggestions? Her particular model is a HP pavilion zx5000

thanks,
Stephen
