Blue screen errors with win XP Pro

I have frequent lockups and stop errors in 3d games since getting a 64MB GeForce 4 ti 4200. I have an Atholon XP 1800, Win XP Pro, 512 ram. The lockups are various but most (not all) involve a Nvidia driver. They occur at random times in different games and never occur in regular applications. I have updated bios and all drivers and tried many different drivers for the video card including the cards maker (aopen) and nvidia reference drivers. The latest beta driver has decreased the problem by at least 2/3rds but they still occur at a tiresom rate -an average of every 3-6 hours.

I did a google search and found this to be a fairly common problem and hope one of the learned scholars here can offer suggestions.

Heh, I just posted a very similar question this morning.

I have XP Pro, 64mb GF4-4200, and lockup problems in 3d games (Morrowind or UT2003 for example).

My problem is when I set my memory from 266mhz to 333mhz it becomes unstable, despite using PC3200 DDR400 ram (should be able to run at 400mhz fine). My Board is based on Intel 845G which doesn't have offical support for DDR333 speed, but many reviews have no problems whatsoever with it.

Suggestion:
Maybe for your problem, try slowing down your memory clock speed. Maybe this will help.....

Good Luck!

Is it the infamous Nv4.DLL error? If so I'm afraid there is no 100% working fix for it 🙁 some fixes work for some people and not for others, while some try every fix they can find with no luck. BTW welcome to the Forums 🙂
