blue screen (but not of death) in win2kpro

K... I had win2k pro w/sp1 working all fine and dandy on my system with a
creative gf2, but then i installed dx8 and now when I startup win2k, the
screen is all blue. I got a little frustrated and did a clean install, and
I managed to isolate the problem. I installed sp1, then dx8, then the det
6.49 drivers and everything went smooth. The problem shows itself when I
try to adjust my monitor frequency. When I first install the drivers, they
run at 60hz. I reboot and all is fine... 1024x768 @60hz.. screen looks all
wierd, so I adjust the frequency to 75hz (old 21" mac monitor, but hey it
works) and it's all good. When I reboot though, the screen is all blue, and
it's not the blue screen of death. I can type in my password and I hear
windows startup and everything. The only way I can see the screen again is
when I reboot and go into VGA mode... This problem only occured when I
installed dx8... I tried that regfix thing and it didn't work, so now I'm
at my wits end...
