richardycc, the only one that falls under the heading of cheap and that can be hacked for multiregion BD/DVD playback is probably the Insignia NS-BRDVD4. (I don't know if the LG BD370 is still widely available, though, since that one should be fairly cheap as well.)
Sixguns: in a general sense most current BD players are fairly bulletproof, though the PS3 may still be the most bulletproof of all. That aside, the Panasonic 2011 line (the DMP-BDT110/210/310 series) is also considered pretty solid and less expensive. Just go to
AVS's BD player forum--they're far pickier about players than you'll
ever be, and you can get a surprising amount of good information there.
