Blue-ray player

I am looking for a blue-ray player for under 300.00? What brands should I look for? Dont really care for the WiFi or internet on it. My xbox streams netflix and other stuff.

If all you want is something to play bluray pretty much anything will work. Anymore anything but the basic models is going ot have streaming stuff built in.

As for recommendations...i use my ps3 and it works fine. My dad has a panasonic DMP-BDT210 that works good. Some nice features on it like just waving your hand over the unit to turn it on and open the disc drive. load times are pretty reasonable too. The cheaper model (110) takes away the touch free sensor.

OP may need to be a little careful here. I agree that Panasonics provide excellent value. But I believe that the cheapest current model (BD75) isn't 3d capable. So if OP wants that, he should move up to the BDT110, which isn't much more money ($106 shipped from Amazon). I have one and it is excellent.

For $300, I'd still recommend the PS3 Slim. Still the best bang for the buck. But it sounds like you don't need that. Form what it sounds like, you just want a basic player. There's a lot of decent ones well under $200 these days.

richardycc, the only one that falls under the heading of cheap and that can be hacked for multiregion BD/DVD playback is probably the Insignia NS-BRDVD4. (I don't know if the LG BD370 is still widely available, though, since that one should be fairly cheap as well.)

Sixguns: in a general sense most current BD players are fairly bulletproof, though the PS3 may still be the most bulletproof of all. That aside, the Panasonic 2011 line (the DMP-BDT110/210/310 series) is also considered pretty solid and less expensive. Just go to AVS's BD player forum--they're far pickier about players than you'll ever be, and you can get a surprising amount of good information there.

BDT110 (wireless capable - need an extra wireless adapter) or BDT210 (built-in wireless).

I have the BDT210 and love it.
