Hello there Guys, It getting to that time again and I need to start to work on my Blue Print for my Next Rig. Below you will find my current rig info. I build a new Rig every 3 ? 4 years. So I wanted to get your thoughts on Hardware selection and what is the best direction to go into. There are certain Brand Names that I am gona follow. Processor ? Intel, Motherboard ? Asus, and of course OS ? Microsoft. I just wanted to get your guys thoughts on the Main Components that what u guys recommend.

I believe that my last Rig that I built name ?Trance-Fuzion? was between 4,000 ? 5,000 Dollars. I buy parts one by one so I don?t get a HUGE Credit Bill. So again just wanted your thoughts on Hardware Components and your recommendations or info I need to know. As always Thank You for all your Help.

Quick Current Rig Info:

Case ? Lian Li
PS - Corsair 620HX
MB - Asus Maximus Formula SE
Processor - Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770 at 3.2GHz
Ram ? 8GB G-Skills
Graphic Card ? 8800GT Graphic Card
HD ? Four WD Hard Drives

PLEASE when you POST threads asking for input on system builds tell us...

1. What YOUR PC will be used for - Gaming, Video Editing and Burn Stuff

2. What YOUR budget is - 3,000 - 4,000

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from? I live in the United States!

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. Intel FanBoy nVidia FanBoy (ATI np) Asus Fan-Boy and MS Fan-Boy

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are - My first choice would be replace all parts, but if I have to use any currents parts I don't mind. Mostley Rom Drive and Maybe Case

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads - No

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds - System Default and Maybe OC

8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with - Have have a 22" LCD but plan to get an LCD Samsung TV 42" or 46"

9. WHEN do you plan to build it? - No official Date bust July of Next Year

Thank U All

Your current system is already pretty nice imo.... But if you MUST upgrade, I'd just say the video card and be done with it? That's a great processor you have there so do you really need/want the extra performance? You should also check up on the AT articles that show the program you use for editing, and seeing how much of a benefit it would be to upgrade to an i7 system, since you have no upgrade room with s775.

In terms of gaming, a processor upgrade won't especially help in most games, if at all, especially if OC that QX9770 of yours a bit more. One defining feature from upgrading however, would be the X58 chipset, meaning you can go SLI or CF, and upgrade that way accordingly. Which is more an option, than an upgrade.

Well then:

i7 975
RAM
For the mobo you can get either the 760 Classified or this Awesome low priced Asrock X58 Extreme for 169$
The ATI 5870 offers the best bang for the buck. But it's up to you.
Intel SSD G2 drive - you can either go 80 or 160 gig - MLC or SLC
Enermax Evo 1250 or PCP&C 910 Silencer PSU - if you get the 760 classified and go with the Enermax, you will need to make sure the S/N on the box is 95xxxxxxx or later for compatibility reasons.
Case the ABS Black Pearl is a hell of a case (Lian Li 2000v rebadge) for 99$ I love mine.

How much storage space do you want? What size drives? You should just re-use those storage drives if you can.

The more and more I read your guys comments, the more and more I am stepping away from the Idea of building a new Rig now. It looks like all u guys are saying just upgrade certain hardware not all. And to be perfectly honest with u guys, I really don't have any problem with my current system. Besides Graphic Card and thinks here and there.

So if you guys are saying No to to Build a New Rig Now, What Hadware would u guys recommend me Upgrading Anyway?

Here is a Full Rig Info:

PC Case - Lian Li PC-7FW (BLK)

PS - Corsair HX620W

MB - Asus Maximus Formula SE (X38 Chipset)

Processor - Intel Core 2 Quad QX9770 3.2GHz (Not OC Yet)

Heatsink - Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme

Total Ram - 8GB G-Skills (Not OC) DDR2 667MHz

Current Graphic Card - nVidia 8800GT (Single - Can't Do SLI Board Supports Crose-Fire) But this time I am open to other Graphic Card like ATI because nvidia is doing alot of crazy things and I haven't head one good thing about GT300

HD - 4 WD (One of them Raptor 150GB)

Roms - Two DVD Burners (Samsung and Poineer)

Blu-Ray Drive - I will get one for SURE!

And anything elso that I am forgetting.

Thank you for all your guys help. You see it pays to listen to your guys Advice. Again Thank You!

Nice rig already.

Graphics - easy, upgrade to one of the new ATI cards.

Storage - you have the budget for an SSD, so get an Intel one for your OS/boot drive.

Optical - Blu-ray if that floats your boat.

Monitor - not sure what you have currently, but your new graphics card needs to display that eye-candy on a screen that will do it justice.

Yeah, putting a few pieces in your current machine will make a heck of a difference like the Intel SSD G2 drive - alot of people say its the best upgrade they've done in years; that's of course if your name isn't rubycon 😀

what's the point of this other than not getting a huge bill? you'll still be paying for the total price at one time or another. why try to trick to yourself?

set aside money now, wait until july of next year and get everything all at once.
no point in getting the fastest cpu or gpu now just to spread out your costs when it'll cost cheaper closer to your build date.
