This week was the 51st annual Big Rock Blue Marlin tournament held in Morehead City, NC. I live about 45 minutes from there and try to go to the tournament each year.

I don't fish in the tournament.....the entry fee is $17,000. :Q The winners today walked away with a prize of $746,820 after landing a 466lb Blue Marlin on the last day of the tournament. Second place was a 439lb Blue Marlin and a prize of $318,000.

Winnars

466lbs of Big Fish

Winning boat and crew

Small Dolphin brought in

There are prizes for other gamefish as well, tuna, wahoo, cobia. But I didin't hang out for those. Once you see a huge Blue Marlin nothing compares. :)

More Big Rock here.

Prepared properly it is good eating.

It tastes like chicken. :D

I've never had marlin myself. I've had tuna and dolphin and they are good.

You should have seen the one that got away.

As for eating marlin, I don't. It's not a particularly tasty fish and it's very high in mercury. But the mahi mahi I would happily chow down.
