Blue Man Group: NYC

Modeps

Lifer
Went this weekend with the family. It was my third time going to see them . Anyways, my sister in law (first timer) was just sitting in the audience, minding her own business when it was time for the "Twinkee Skit". Yep, she got picked and hung out on stage with the Blue ones for about 15 minutes in the skit. Even got a polaroid taken on stage. Not a good picture of it, I couldnt scan it because they kissed the photo and the makeup hadnt dried as of yet, and the only camera I had available was my cameraphone.

Just for the record, In case anyone cares to know... I've seen BMG in Vegas, NYC, and on their "Complex Rock Tour". NYC and Vegas were definately quite similar shows, but they did do a few different things at each.

Tobias: I blue myself
Michael: There has got to be a better way to say that

Tobias: Bad news, Michael, I am afraid that I am no longer an understudy for the Blue Man Group. It seems that we have parted ways.
Michael: [reading an official-looking letter] "Cease and decist..."
Tobias Fünke: Apparently, they dont like competition.
[shows a magazine ad with Tobias that says "Want a Blue Man For Less Green?"]

saw them in Vegas last year...after the show when we were walking out listening to everyone talk about it...it seemed that half the people hated it and the other half loved it...

I thought it was okay, but was not worth the $200 ($100 a ticket)...

definitely better off buying the DVD of the show anyway...

Were they a band before the Intel commercials (please pardon my ignorance)
Performance artists. Sort of a mix of music, comedy, pantomime, dance. I like their show, I've seen their NYC show twice. They also have music cds, so I guess you could call them musicians as well.

Nice. The Complex Rock Tour kicked ass when it came to Denver... the LED signs during the intermission were hilarious. Hopefully I can make it up to NYC to see their show sometime.

They've been around since 1991, probably a bit longer. I went to HS with a guy that's a member of the group. I believe he joined sometime in early 2001. I know they're an ensemble with around 30 members. The guy I went to HS with is based in the Boston troupe.

I found an article done in the local paper the last time they were in town. 🙂

How much were the tickets Modeps?

Tickets for the NYC show were $70 a piece. It's down in the Village on Astor Pl. IMO it's definately worth at least $70 to go see them once or more! 🙂
