I'm gonna be a freshman at UT this fall. I have pretty well-laden bank accounts, especially for a student, since I make a lot of money and really don't spend a whole lot. I have a Citi Mastercard with about $1500 of credit, and I never really charge more than $400 or so a month, because I usually pay for almost everything small in cash (gas, food, small best buy crap, etc). I have been paying my bills (cell phone and MC) for a year now, without ever missing a payment or carrying a balance. I like some of Blue's features, plus my dad uses his AMEX charge almost exclusively because he knows AMEX will usually be on his side. Is it worth getting a Blue if I already have a CC with a good bank just for the features? Or will AMEX pull a bait-and-switch on me?

The only reason I'd ever get an Amex Blue card is for BVG, other than that I wouldn't.

I don't quite understand your "bait and switch" comment, how exactly are you concerned they might bait and switch you? If you're referring to a "pre-approved" Amex Blue offer you received, they have every legal right to decline you even if you received a "pre-approved" offer. It happens all the time.
