Review

Anticipation for this title has been huge, with pre-orders selling out across Japan. Now we see why - Twilight Princess isn't the only classic RPG released this Christmas. Here's why you should be excited for Blue Dragon's English-language release in 2007.

Blue Dragon finds the perfect balance between linearity and excessive freedom - it doesn't embarrass you by holding your hand, and yet it doesn't just leave you alone crying in the supermarket. Hironobu Sakaguchi (the FF creator and Blue Dragon mastermind) is as good a parent as Shigeru Miyamoto.

man I can't wait. I used to love all of the old RPG's from these guys like Chrono Trigger and I've been away from the console scene for awhile so I can't wait until this gets released in the US.

Anyone else as excited as I am? This game looks like it may be an epic.

I've been waiting for this game ever since I heard about it... I'm tempted to buy a Japanese XBOX 360 just to play this (and we know Microsoft would love the extra sale ;))!

Did you see what the Blue Dragon bundles are going for there? Like $250 US. Good lord.

Comes with the game, the console, a faceplate and some little toys.

Yeah, that made me sad :(. I want a Blue Dragon faceplate for my XBOX 360.

EDIT:

It seems I am not alone.

EDIT 2:

Looks like you can also buy the bundle itself from my favorite import shop ('cause they're so close to me, I get everything in one day :D)

Bah, if you watch enough anime, you understand 50% of the phrases used in most cutscenes ;).

EDIT: One comment I would like to make about this review is that it seemed more like a preview honestly. I think the current information up on IGN's XBOX 360 section looks more like a review than this as IGN actually discusses some of the bad points of the game (they mention them as minor annoyances more than game killers).

I'm very tempted to buy that bundle... it's a great deal even for a Core System. I just wish I could somehow not have to buy an entirely new system :/.

Chock one up for Sony, being the only next-gen manufacturer to allow region-free gaming in their console machine. You think Nintendo would've done it too since the DS was region free. Microsoft could've done it if they made the games Region Free (aka R0) but still kept the DVD drives themselves locked to a region.

A good portion of 360 games are region free. MS leaves the decision up to the publishers. Unfortunately, MS is one of the few publishers that region locks their games.

This should boost MS's pathetic 180,000 sales after one year. They just need other Japanese developers to make games for the system.

Would love to pick this up... not going to buy a 360 just for this though. Fortunatly I'm sure there will be a fully functional 360 emulator in the future. ;)

Interesting, is there any way to tell? I went and looked at a couple 360 games and there really was no designation that I saw. Including look at Kameo (Microsoft Games Studio title (Rare actually, but we know how Microsoft loves to put their name on everything ;)))

EDIT: And as we know, unfortunately Blue Dragon is region locked ( as said here as well http://www.ncsxshop.com/cgi-bin/shop/A7J-00001.html?id=pukNNo5C ), especially since it's a Microsoft published game.
