Blue Devil Corvette Confirmed!

Regarding horsepower, Lutz said: ?We?re certainly not going to be at 600 because some of our competition is at 600. So, 600 is a number that is not satisfactory for us. I would say comfortably in excess of 600 is the way I would term it.? As for 700 horses, ?that would be a stretch,? Lutz continued. ?Tom Stephens [GM?s head of powertrain] would say, ?Maybe in the second year.? ?

Which brings us back to our long-held contention that the car is packing a 650-hp V-8, although we expected it to be a supercharged 6.2-liter with an integrated intake-manifold intercooler. With the lightweight Z06 as a starting point, we expect the Blue Devil will make the sprint from 0 to 60 mph in fewer than 3.4 seconds.

Awesome 😀

I find it interesting that GM is producing a car like this. Obviously this will not be a money maker for them...they don't seem to be in a position financially to lose money developing a very limited production halo car that's well beyond the Z06. Maybe to generate "buzz"?

Just creates buzz and hype...like the GT did for Ford.

Maybe so, and there's no doubt that it will - but I just can't see the ROI being very good on something like that. Seems that money would be better spent elsewhere.

I'm going to guess 454 cu in displacement...for historic reasons.
Man this thing is going to induce some serious drooling.

As a UNC fan, I can safely say I'll never own that car 😉
Seriously though, if I had the money, a Vette would be near or at the top of my list of cars to own. The "Blue Devil" is an awesome car, despite the dookie connotations.

I recall someone breaking into the 10s with slicks on a bone stock C6 Z06, I'd love to see this one get low 10s and give a Veyron a run for its money.

that's orgasmic
i really hope they make it look more distinctive though. in the pic it looks like a Zo6 with a hood intake-attachment thing

Aren't the first two paragraphs the same as the story about the new camaro? Someone posted a link to a story about the new camaro a couple of weeks back and GM was saying the same thing.
