Thats what they're claiming with a version thats released today. They're getting alot of press on the radio today.

- Private protocol, featuring a ?serverless? peer-to-peer
network with anonymous access and auto-regulated connectivity
for unlimited scalability.

- Speeds never seen before in any peer-to-peer file-sharing
network.

funny that the press releases forget to mention spyware. :frown:

Well, if the spyware company is willing to pay people to write the software, and the users expect to get it for free, then yeah, expect spyware in it. I'm sure that al lthese things wouldn't have spyware in them if they could sell them at $19.95/copy.

I don't know about anyone else but if the clients directly connect to each other then it sure as heck isn't anonymous.

Depends on their definition of "anonymous." I don't see how the RIAA couldn't log on and run an IP harvesting application to start grabbing IP addresses of people that connect to their system. So, I don't see how it's anonymous like they say. Everything is logged somewhere.

So anyone else have any input on this? I don't want to end up on a RIAA list.

Anyone know if version 2.0 (without spyware) operates the same way?

Amidst a rising concern for user anonymity in file sharing, Blubster 2.5 claims to keep transfer information protected, or at least put significant roadblocks in the way of data collection. Using the UDP protocol instead of TCP, the serverless network doesn?t show detailed IP address information, making investigation difficult. However, the extra effort put into keeping users? information private isn?t enough to make Blubster a file-sharing keeper.

The simple interface is a refreshing change from the advertising and sponsored content placement on other P2P applications. It integrates Web browsing and music playback well, but there are no multiple search or filtering functions, and the required installation of GAIN (Gator) software provides more than enough pop-up ads to offset the lack of banners. Since the network is for MP3 and OGG files only, it?s hard to recommend Blubster over P2P competitors with comparable user bases that offer anonymous file trading, such as Earthstation 5 and Filetopia.

Anyone have any experience with Earthstation 5 or Filetopia? Are they truly anonymous?

You guys fail to see the benefit of this though... with an extreme amount of luck (and hope) they will also sue Gator because of their connection to it! And then hopefully, Gator will disappear.

Hmmm, an "Anonymous" file sharing program released just when everyone needs it.

Ever hear about the police sting operations where they send letters to wanted criminals telling them they have won a trip, tv, event tickets, etc. and to come claim their prize, they register at the door and walk in to a room where they are hooked and booked.

Any time you are on the Internet you are not anonymous nor are you "hidden". You can always be traced.

I can see the use of UDP being a problem in receiving complete, intact files over a long download period. There's already enough junk mp3 and mpg files out there.
