Only for several-years-old HDTV sets that lack a digital connector. And your PC monitor since it lacks HDCP.

Lame.. Controlling what people watch movies on. And the best part is it won't stop piracy!

A really stupid move IMO. I have a 1080p display that lacks HDCP so I guess the only solution for me is to wait for hacks to come out that "correct" the situation. Either that or I just won't buy the new format discs.

Supporters of Image Constraint argue that few consumers will be able to tell the difference between down-converted analog and high-def.

So why bother buying hi def discs at all if it down converts to regular DVD resolution? Such an idiotic move.

Doesn't it just warm the heart, forced absolecence for the early adopters, all in the name of the piracy that it won't prevent. Luckily we have the industry's word that consumers are just stupid sheep that won't notice anyway.

I'd love to know how allowing component connections are going to lead to piracy. How many people use their DVD players component connection to copy movies?

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment is not a member of AACS, but has argued against the idea in other forums.

Does this mean Fox were being the good guys? :Q

right now its very expensive to captre HD component, but it will get cheaper. but don't get me wrong I fully disagree with this and I hope for companys to add "backdoors" in there players to allow us to turn 1080p on for analog simlar to what alot do for region coding for dvds. that and I give it at the outside of a month after release that the encryption is broken on bluray making all this mute since that would be the preferd method of getting the movie.
