Blu-ray discs rotting...

Wow, shows how using the organic material is not so much a good idea. This goes for CDs in general, even rechargeble batteries etc... they do this for it to be more environmentally friendly. Good thinking, but if it means we have to throw it out faster... I think its counter productive.

Seems like it's just limited to "The Prestige" and "Stranger Than Fiction." How odd.

They are dual layer. I don't think single layer are affected.

(1) It's limited to a select few titles that were released very close to each other
(2) Retailers and studios have been quick to provide replacements

This is a non-issue, I don't see, and don't expect to see, any problems with any of my blu-ray movies.

Disc rot occurs every once in a while. The Contact DVD suffered the same fate. The degeneration of a disc typically occurs more rapidly in a humid environment. I remember Floridians suffering a greater rate of failure for that disc.

No big deal; just an 'oops'.

<- format neutral, but owns HD DVD.

Those pics look almost exactly the way the LCD on my Toshiba notebook became, luckily it was still under warranty and they replaced the screen.... (whatever it was, it was beneath the surface)
